Petrichor is the newest subarea within the Nostoi Region of Genshin Impact. Version 4.6 brings us new weapons, characters, quests, and two new areas: the Sea of Bygone Eras and the Nostoi region. Fontaine’s underwater exploration is a much-loved activity by many players, as it brings new sea creatures with new abilities. However, swimming across the sea or building an ice bridge to make your way to the new area is not preferred, so use this guide to help you unlock the new area Petrichor in Genshin Impact.
How to get to the Petrichor Island in Genshin Impact

To unlock the new area Petrichor in Genshin Impact, you must first complete the Archon Quest Prologue: Act III Song of the Dragon and Freedom. A Teleport Waypoint will automatically unlock near Fontaine’s Petrichor if you have already done so. This quest takes place at the start of the game, so if you have already completed it before the Version 4.6 update, the Teleport Waypoint will unlock automatically.
The island is near Fontaine’s Romantime Harbor. If you haven’t completed the quest but are above the Adventure Rank requirements, you can also use the Waverider located in the Realm of Farakhert in Sumeru to make your way to the island.
Nostoi Region subareas and domains
Petrichor and the Faded Castle are new subareas in the Nostoi Region of Fontaine. Once you explore the island, you will immediately begin the new World Quest: The Shadow over Petrichor. This new area closes the gaping hole between Liyue, Sumeru, and Fontaine, and with it comes new enemies, rewards, and a Domain, the Faded Theater. If you’re interested in pulling Genshin’s latest 5-star character, Arlecchino, the Faded Theater houses her recommended artifact, the Fragment of Harmonic Whimsy. This domain is located at the back of Petrichor Island.
