These are fairly good times to be a Helldivers 2 player as the game recently received some much-needed attention in the form of two major updates. These updates buffed many of the game’s weapons with the first update being released in September and the second, patch 1.001.104 being released recently. While many have happily jumped back into the game to pick back up where they left off in the galactic war, others have been hard at work diving into the patches to see what they can uncover. One user may have also discovered a shadow buff for the Airburst Rocket Launcher added in the latest Helldivers 2 update.
Helldivers 2 has been the talk of the town recently thanks to leaks of an upcoming clan update. There has also been talk of vehicles being added in the near future. Of course, many are also still clinging to the Illuminate possibly appearing in the game soon but we believe that still won’t be coming for some time.
Airburst Rocket Launcher shadow buff in Helldivers 2
Recently, user Exhillious posted a video on Reddit showing the Airburst Rocket Launcher in action. In the post, the user stated, “With [patch] 1.001.104, the ABRL (Airburst Rocket Launcher) received a reload speed buff. This was labeled as 7s -> 5s, but was closer to 4.9s -> 3.7s due to reload cancelling.”
Thanks to reload cancelling, you can now reload the Airburst Rocket Launcher in a little under four seconds. That is extremely fast. On top of that, the damage of the weapon got a major upgrade as well. The user mentions how the latest update increased the frag grenade damage from 250 to 500. Since “the bomblets share a damage ID with frag grenades, this means each bomblet went from doing 250 to 500 damage.”
To break this all down, while the damage from hitting an enemy directly with the rocket has not changed, the damage done by the massive number of bomblets that fly out of the shell has increased dramatically. This means that the bomblets from the Airburst Rocket Launcher now deal upwards of 12,500 damage according to Exhillious. The user is urging others to start using this beast of a weapon.
