Helldivers 2 has grown to be a favorite game for many people since it was released back in February of this year. After the success of the original game, Arrowhead has been able to capitalize on the series. Of course, all good things must eventually come to an end and that includes Helldivers 2. Luckily, it seems that the devs have a backup plan for when Helldivers 2 support begins to wane and eventually disappears. Of course, we don’t think that will happen for a long time but you never know in today’s market.
Recently, a Helldivers 2 fan asked Arrowhead CCO Pilestedt and CEO Jorjani a question about Helldivers 2 support. They said, “Have you guys thought about how you’re gonna document/preserve all your various game modes for when eventually Helldivers 2 live support ends? I know it’s a long ways away but curious.”
To this, Pilestedt responded by saying, “Hey! IF we stop supporting Helldivers at any point, we will automate systems to ensure it keeps being playable. But, our ambition is to support and build the game for many more years – we have so much cool stuff in store.”
This is reminiscent of comments Pilestedt made earlier in the year on Discord where when asked about how long support will last for the game, Pilestedt said, “Forever if I get to choose. Even if we were to sunset the game. We would build automation on the gamemaster and other features.”
It looks like it is confirmed that Helldivers 2 support will last a long time if not forever. At the very least, if the team ever needs to stop working on Helldivers 2, they will at least build systems to keep everything running for players to enjoy the game in the future. We look forward to diving for as long as we can.
