Helldivers 2 has seen one hell of a year. From launching to outstanding numbers, a barrage of corrected nerfs, and the changing of leadership to the great Sony debacle and the arrival of the Illuminate, there are many stories to be had. Those who have been around since the original Helldivers game know Pilestedt – the all-important CEO of Arrowhead who led the charge across the battlefield. He stepped down as CEO to become the CCO to focus more on Helldivers 2. Now, the Helldivers 2 CCO has announced he is taking a sabbatical but will work on the “next Arrowhead game” once he returns.
In recent news, more countries have been removed from the Steam ban list, allowing more players to purchase Helldivers 2. A Helldivers 2 dev also announced that they have “more exciting things” in the works.
Helldivers 2 CCO announces sabbatical
Pilestedt took to his X page to announce that he is “gonna do a sabbatical for a while.” In the post, Pilestedt said, “11 years of working “around the clock” on the same IP has made me set aside family, friends, and my lovely wife… and myself.” He also said that while we have “enjoyed Helldivers 2 for almost a year” he has been “living it since early 2016.” That is a long time to be focused on a single project.
He went on to say, “I am going to take some time now to redeem what was lost from all of those that supported me for over a decade.” He ended the post by saying that he will “start working on the next Arrowhead game” when he returns. There is no word as to how long the Helldivers 2 CCO will be on sabbatical, but we assume it could be upwards of a year.
Many jumped into the comments to wish him a fond farewell, with one saying, “Enjoy the well-earned rest.” Other fans were seemingly distraught saying things like they “lost one of the best,” but overall the sentiment has been positive. We can’t wait to see what Arrowhead comes up with when Pilestedt makes his return.
