Players are always looking for a challenge. Whether it is going up against a bigger, badder enemy or fighting hordes of bugs, automatons, or squids, players want the struggle to be real. At least, that is what Helldiers 2 players are looking for. If you want something a bit tougher than Super Helldive mode, you may be in luck as according to one of the Helldivers 2 devs, the team is “discussing ways to increase the difficulty for the players that want that extra challenge.”
The Helldivers devs are always in talks with players and letting them know what they can expect in the future. Recently, CCO Pilestedt talked about possibly doing a “limited event” collaboration with the game’s enemies. CEO Jorjani also talked about wanting players to have the ability to save multiple loadouts.
Helldivers 2 dev talks about increasing the difficulty
In a recent post on the Helldivers 2 Discord server, one player asked, “Do you think releasing a Difficulty 11 or higher would be something we see in the near future? I can routinely play Difficulty 10 bots without dying, I want to go back to the old-school desperation where you’re down to 0 lives halfway through the mission.” In response, one of the Helldivers 2 devs by the name of Sephez said the team is “discussing ways to increase the difficulty for the players that want that extra challenge.” They went on to say, “There’s plenty of different avenues to take with this so there’s a lot of flexibility, including higher CRs, so do keep an eye out.”
Unfortunately, the dev didn’t give any indications as to when players can expect to see an increase in the game’s difficulty. They did put in parentheses, “Maybe not in the near future,” so it doesn’t look like the update will come anytime soon. For now, if you want a challenge, you will just need to try out different ways of playing the game such as using other weapons or playing against a different enemy faction.
