It took a long time for melee weapons to finally get added to Helldivers 2. After waiting nearly a year, players got their hands on the game’s first melee weapons, the Stun Baton and Stun Lance. Now, players want even more melee weapons and crossover weapons. Luckily, one Helldivers 2 dev has confirmed that there are no “specific limits” on melee weapons and that they will add anything they “think is cool.”
We recently learned that the Helldivers 2 team is in the “very early stages” of a new crossover event. While nothing has been confirmed, the CEO has spoken about Games Workshop wanting to collaborate. Players have also seen leaks of a new melee weapon in the game files that looks suspiciously like a chainsword from Warhammer 40k.
Helldivers 2 devs have no limits on melee weapons
Helldivers 2 dev Sephez has been on a roll recently, revealing bits and pieces of the development process and what Arrowhead plans on doing with the game. Earlier, Sephez was asked about the melee weapons in the game. The player asked, “Is there a planned limit to melee weapons or are we gonna be ballin with a new stick every few months?” Of course, many want to know what the limit is to the melee weapons in Helldivers 2. Luckily, Sephez has an answer.

Sephez responded to the inquiry saying, “We’ll add anything we think is cool and first the game, we don’t have any specific limits.” While this does not confirm that we will be getting new melee weapons at a consistent rate, it does confirm that more are being worked on and we could see a wide range of strange sci-fi weapons get added to the game. Unfortunately, it was confirmed a long time ago that lightsabers will never be added to Helldivers 2 so Star Wars fans will never get to fight for democracy with the melee weapon of their dreams.
