Helldivers 2 had a decent launch with many players jumping in to fight for democracy. Shortly after, the summer months rolled around and waves of bad updates decimated the game. This all changed after Arrowhead dropped the latest massive update that added the Illuminate, vehicles, urban landscapes, and melee weapons to the game. Now, there are players asking for Arrowhead to start making DLC. Luckily, the Helldivers 2 CCO shut this down saying they will never “put enemies or gameplay behind a paywall.”
Lately, the Helldivers 2 CEO Jorjani and CCO Pilestedt have been very chatty on social media and in the Helldivers 2 Discord server. They have been answering questions and responding to inquiries the fans have. Pilestedt and players recently praised Helldivers 2 for having a lack of UI options.
Helldivers 2 CCO responds to paid DLC inquiry
Recently, Pilestedt jumped on his X page to respond to fans’ questions and statements. One such fan by the name of JayIgnition stated, “If you bring in a new faction with new mission types, please make it a DLC for about £15 (about $18). I want it to shut up whiners and get you guys some hard-earned earnings.” In response to this post, Pilestedt said, “We will never put enemies or gameplay like that being a paywall. We do not want to split the player base!”
The Helldivers 2 team is devoted to making the player base happy without putting anything behind a paywall. Recently, CEO Jorjani stated something similar by saying that he is “not opposed to selling stuff but it needs to be a win for both the players, not just our wallet.” This was said in response to players asking for cosmetic DLC purchases. If there is paid DLC coming for Helldivers 2, it will most likely be cosmetic items that players have been asking for.
