The Gloom has been teased for some time now thanks to leakers sharing information about the strange phenomenon. For the first time, Helldivers 2 players can now venture into the Gloom in the latest major order. “There is a Terminid ecosystem full of untapped potential within reach: The Gloom.” Helldiers are now tasked with venturing into the Gloom and surveying it for E-710. This is all made possible by new Helldivers 2 armor which grants players resistance to the Gloom.
Leakers like IronS1ghts have teased the Gloom for some time now. As part of the leaks, the Terminid have appeared to evolve into “Spore Bugs” which causes them to explode upon death, spreading the Gloom even further.

The new MO was issued earlier this morning on the official Discord server. Helldivers 2 community manager Baskinator posted, “The Helldivers have been granted the privilege of being the first to venture into this new frontier. Fortuitously, Gloom conditions on FORI PRIME are remarkable favorable at the moment.”
The MO tasks Helldivers 2 players with venturing into the Gloom where it is less dense and to survey it for E-710. As part of the MO, players are tasked with killing 1,000,000,000 Terminids on FORI PRIME, making sure FORI PRIME stays liberated, and successfully extracting with 100,000,000 common samples on FORI PRIME.

New armor has been issued in the Super Store to help with the first Gloom objective. The AF-52 Lockdown and AF-91 Field Chemist armor both provide 80% resistance to gas damage and effects. Considering the spore bugs explode when killed, it would be wise to venture forth with one of the new armor sets if you have the extra Super Credits.
According to leaks from IronS1ghts, players can get stunned by some of the spore explosions. This could possibly been lessened with the new armor sets or you could possibly avoid taking damage. Undoubtedly, things will get more difficult as we venture further into the Gloom so keep your guard up.
