Kingdom Come: Deliverance II is a widely anticipated sequel to the original story about the rise of a young blacksmith apprentice named Henry. The sequel is set to be released at the start of February in most areas of the world but it may have already received a ban in Saudi Arabia. This apparent ban is due to “unskippable gay scenes” that are found in the game’s story mode. Hints about the ban came a few days prior, but multiple news outlets are now reporting that Kingdom Come: Deliverance II has officially been banned in the country.
Last month, developer Warhorse Studio announced that Kingdom Come: Deliverance II would be released earlier than expected.
Multiple Saudi Arabian new outlets report Kingdom Come: Deliverance II ban
Multiple Saudi Arabian news outlets have reported a ban on Kingdom Come: Deliverance II in the country. The story was first reported by news outlet VGA4A via the company’s X page. The post, when translated, reads, “Kingdom Come: Deliverance II banned in Saudi Arabia due to unskippable gay scenes in story mode.”
Saudi Arabian news outlet SaudiGamer has also reported on the ban saying, “Today the official news came out that Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 will be officially banned in Saudi Arabia, and it seems that the reason is the presence of a sex scene between two people, with the inability to cancel or skip this scene, and as we learned, this clip is long, exceeding a minute. It seems that the developer is not seeking to provide a version dedicated to the Middle East yet.” It is important to note that the Saudi Arabian government has not released a statement about the game’s banning and some users on Reddit are stating that the game is still on the Saudi Steam store. If the ban is taking effect, fans can expect the Steam store page to be taken down before the game is released on February 4, 2025.
