The Marvel Rivals devs released the newest Dev Talk where they talked about what the latest changes to the game will be when the mid-season update rolls around. While many were excited about finally getting The Thing and Human Torch added to the game, others were disappointed by the news about the rank reset. Thanks to this, many fans reached out and the Marvel Rivals devs have officially pulled back the seasonal rank reset after fan backlash.
Other information about the mid-season update included the reveal of the Human Torch and The Thing logos as well as information about the rewards players will receive for their ranks. Those who have reached gold rank will get the new Invisible Woman Blood Shield skin.
Marvel Rivals devs pull back seasonal rank reset
Earlier today, NetEase added a new addition to the Dev Talk Vol.11 post talking about the seasonal rank reset. In the post, the devs stated, “When the second half of the season begins, there will be no rank reset.” Instead, “players will retain their ranks and scores from the end of the first half.”

This change also changes how players will earn rewards in the second half of the season. Players will now “need to complete 10 matches in Competitive mode and meet the relevant conditions by the end of the season.” Meaning, if you are gold, and you want the gold rewards, you will need to complete 10 competitive mode matches and retain your gold standing or increase your rank.
Previously, the devs stated that players would have their rank drop four divisions at the start of the half-season and drop six divisions at the start of a new season. This change is thanks to “the pressure associated with having a rank reset every half-season.” The devs said they made the change thanks to a “wealth of feedback from the community,” and that the previous change “made participating in competitive mode less enjoyable.”
